As a Nature photographer I elected the Cávado Estuary as my main "bureau"", hence I was allowed to photographically register 182 bird species. The salt prairies torn apart by labyrinth channels, plus the riverside Alder forests that have a fundamental role for the survival of numerous bird species that here search for refuge during the harsh winter or pleasant summer, where food and shelter allow them to mate. Facing such Biodiversity, present in this unique set of natural and semi-natural habitats, the Cávado Estuary and the coastal north received the deserved status of place of communitary importance (Natura network 2000). It becomes mandatory to visit this natural space, along with an attentive observation of the rich existing avifauna.
